There is a doughnut shop and bakery in Clare, Michigan that has been in constant operation since 1896. This foundation business was within weeks of closing when the members of the Clare Police Department came to the rescue. All of them. That’s right, all nine members of the local police department banded together to save this historic business.
Dubbed “Cops and Doughnuts,” the business boasts handmade confections of all types. Join us for a warm fresh doughnut and a steaming cup of cops coffee while you enjoy the police decor and friendly, and very safe, atmosphere. Come and see the new store in Clare that everyone is talking about.
Are you kidding me? Spice cookies (orange frosting) the size of coffee saucers, cherry or apple fritters the size of a small plate, cinnamon rolls the size of the Hulk's fists. This place is amazing, and the corresponding price is amazing. My favorite might still be the eclair-shaped donut with maple frosting and topped with 2 strips of bacon. Yes, bacon. I get ADD, and can't decide what I want, everything is so good. I'm even interested in trying some of the basic diner food they have off on the side, made to order. Great place, I always make this a stop off point when we head up North.
